A new trailer has been released for the ongoing Mashin Sozoden Wataru TV anime series, which spotlights the anime’s new second half opening theme “Sou” by SANTA. The anime first premiered in Japan on January 12, 2025 and is expected to run for 24 episodes. The 13th episode will broadcast on April 6, 2025.
Yumi Kamakura (Santa Company, Working!!!, WWW.WORKING!!) is directing the anime series, with Yoichi Kato (Aikatsu!, The Idolmaster Million Live!, The Idolmaster Shiny Colors) as series screenwriter, and Shinpei Nagashima (Battle Spirits Mirage) as CG director. Bandai Namco Pictures is in charge of the animation production.
Mayuko Nakano (WWW.WORKING!!) and Yoshinori Yumoto (Battle Spirits: Saga Brave) are serving as character designers. Kyoryu Kuramo (Gundam Breaker Battlogue co-mechanical designer) and Studio GS are the Mashin designers.
Meanwhile, the anime main voice cast includes:

The original Mashin Hero Wataru TV anime series premiered from Sunrise in 1988 for 45 episodes. A 46-episode sequel titled Mashin Hero Wataru 2 aired in 1990, followed by the 51-episode Chou Mashin Hero Wataru sequel in 1997. The franchise also inspired three OVA series that were released between 1989 and 1993. It has also inspired several manga, novels, toys, and video games.
An ONA series titled Mashin Hero Wataru: The Seven Spirits of Ryujinmaru was released in April 2020, in collaboration with Sunrise and Bandai Spirits’ Tamashii Nations toy brand. It was streamed on Bandai Spirits’ YouTube channel for nine total episodes. A compilation film of the series titled Mashin Hero Wataru Shichi Tamashii no Ryūjinmaru – Saikai- premiered in Japanese theaters in January 2022.
Mashin Sozoden Wataru follows protagonist Wataru, a fourth-year elementary student, who is an aspiring RyuuTuber that constructs the Majin Ryuuoumaru, in order to defeat the final boss Enjoda in the world of Chuubukai.
